mASCARA team in Cardiff, proudly supporting the Every Woman Festival; a festival dedicated to woman health education, which has the aim of addressing gender health inequality which is still very real problem. Anal cancer is the prime example, with 67% of the UK anal cancer population being female, yet very little research around the prevention of anal cancer focusing on high-risk women (women with previous genital HSIL and SCC). This is a stark contrast to what is seen for high-risk men (men living with HIV) who are very well researched and are consequently offered screening for anal cancer in certain institutions. mASCARA aims to address these inequalities.
